    According to their latest tour video, we don't even know what raptor uses for ignition when they intend to ignite them. They "simplified" the engines by removing the torch ignitors, but Elon wouldn't say what the secret sauce is. With such a high chamber pressure, maybe their doing like diesel and using compression.

    I think it was a hot motor on one of the man lifts.

    I just scrolled through half a dozen science papers. Methane can autoignition under pressure, though how much pressure I couldn't find. It requires more than a diesel engine(3-500psi), but 300bar(4,300psi) of the raptor is a little bit more, so it's possible, maybe. It may even be what they're using instead of torch ignitors.

    I don't think it was a man lift. Pressure tests have the pad evacuated and by the time that much fuel has been pumped into the booster everything around it should have cooled down.

    I was supposed to be setting up for Starlink 4-25 fueling today but they were doing some high pressure testing in the bay so we didnt get access. Set-up resumes 7-18 and fueling begins 7/19. I will also be working a Boeing job 7/22-7/26 which appears to just be a cleanup job vacating their system of propellant.
