Hello All! First post here! I just purchased a used 2008 standard transmission regular cab 4x2 for my son who is turning 16 in December. Just want to give you a list of improvements that we have done thus far and ask about anything else you all might suggest for improvements.

    1. Cleaned throttle body. Much smoother idling.
    2. Modified bench seat to allow the seat to lean back a bit further.
    3. TPMS light was on when purchased. Aired up the spare, which had very low air pressure, and TPMS light gone!
    4. Cleaned engine bay, underneath truck, and wheels.
    5. Some rust on clamps and bolts cleaned with Scotch Bright like pads on the the grinder.
    6. Oil was just changed by previous owner.

Besides the transfer case oil, do you all have any other suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Congrats on your truck. Welcome to the group. I think you made a great choice for 1st vehicle. You said it was a 4x2. Do they even have transfer cases?

Thanks for the reply! Maybe I should have said the rear differential. Planning on changing that oil next week with my son. Yeah, for a first car it is perfect as it is super simple. Plus it was important for me that he learn how to drive a stick, and I wanted a fun project for us to work on together.
