I work at Tacoma general hospital. Come out at 7 am to find someone drilled my gas tank. Thank you scum bag. Since living in Tacoma 3 yrs I've now had this, 3 broken windows and gas siphened. Maybe the red color choice was a bad idea, or maybe the universe hates me. Regardless 1500 bucks to repair. 20220623_073207.jpg 20220623_073207.jpg

That sucks bad. I just don’t understand the rampant scumbaggery in our society today.

I'd say that when crimes like that aren't prosecuted they become commonplace. You may reach your own conclusions as to the reasons.

Happens all the time. Drill a hole, drop a couple of 5gal gas cans to fill em up, walk away. The cops won't pursue it and the DA won't prosecute even if the perps/criminals/junkies (and all the other words for these low life's that people don't want to be used because it hurts their feelings) are caught in the act unless it is happening to one of their buddies or big "donors".

@Jasonstacoma This happened to my first Gen, I was able to repair the steel tank without even taking it off the truck using a patch kit and it never leaked again. I’m not sure if the plastic tanks have such a thing but it might be worth it next time? Anyone try this?

@JaCado :eek:What scumdouchescroat bags! I am pretty paranoid about the same things happening to mine, so I keep a HF driveway sensor attached by magnet to my truck at night. Sounds off loud in my bedroom if anyone walks by it- just mount it at chest height so cats don’t set it off.

Harbor freight is selling out on those (newer ones coming) so now they’re listed for only 13 bucks, they work really well. Hang them on the side with a magnet attached. Also, if you put one inside your truck it won’t register someone walking around the outside because it can’t see through glass, but if someone actually goes in the truck it will sound off also. Use a magnet like this with a screw and nut to attach it to the sensor so you can stick it on the side of your vehicle:

Just an FYI for people that experience this. For plastic gas tanks, you can repair them yourself using an ironing head soldering iron and scrap plastic. They even sell kits that come with the soldering iron and fill material. It will take a bit of time to do it, but can save $$$$.
In a pinch, used a clean stick (no bark) to plug the hole. The gas will cause the stick to swell and plug it. Another option if you live in an area where this happens often would be to make a few plugs (tapered 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2") out of plastic (use same type the tank is made of) that can be jammed into the hole. This will stop leaking and give you a filler material to use to solder the hole permanently.

I used this method to fix multiple cracks in my father's gas tank. I used scrap plastic from 5gal oil buckets as the filler material. Worked well, just need to make sure to clean, do a light sanding of surrounding area to feather it out.

For one, law abiding citizens are only allowed to watch it all unfold and MAYBE legally defend themselves in the event of a home invasion. Instead of empowering the good guys to help take out the trash, we have to twiddle our thumbs while the criminals get paraded through the “justice system” which only wastes our tax dollars and churns out more dangerous criminals. It’s a bad joke.

Sorry op. Hopefully this criminal gets his.

I do not miss living in a big city. I grew up in New York City and dealt with crap like that all the time. And it's even worse now because big city prosecutors do not pursue minor crimes anymore. I like looking out my window now and seeing deer instead of homeless drug addicts.

To me it looks like someone put a can on the slider and let it bake in the sun. Doesn't really look like something that someone did with the can in their hand, more like the can popped and tumbled along the side of the truck spewing along the way.
