My 2010 Tacoma 4.0 extended cab has 340,000 kilometres on it. It stalls when it rains out. After it drys for. But it will drive again. When it stalls the engine will turn over and it will start but it stalls in a few seconds. The engine light comes on and it shows all six codes for the coil packs. I’ve replaced the crank shaft position sensor and it seemed to work for a few months. Then started doing the same thing again. I replaced the sensor again with a Toyota sensor it helped for. Few weeks the. Started to stall again. This is the only problem I have had with the truck. Any suggestions.

My 2008 has been doing this of and on for a couple of years, rain, fog + wind seems to do it and only when its sitting over night. It will start right up and then die 5 seconds latter, and progressively sooner on each restart attempt until it wont start and only cranks over. Today it did it again and at last i think I’ve solve the problem. On the back of the valve covers near the fire wall there are small bolts that have ground wires under them, i think theres 3, one on the left bank (drivers side) with one wire under it obviously a ground, and two on the passenger side, one with just one wire and the other that has 5-6 wires grounded. It looks to me as it these some kind of galvanic corrosion happening on these. I loosened them off with a 10mm wrench (be very careful not to break them, they were stuck hard on my truck) I cleaned the connections and sprayed a little fluid film on the connections and then tightened them back up and my truck fired right up! I think the damp air along with the corrosion was messing up the ground connection for one of the sensors. Fingers crossed but i think I’ve solved this mystery.

Could be any of many issues. The ecu to coils is failing to get power or signal from or to the ecu.

I'd pull the glove box out and check the connectors to the ecu and harness's for moisture after rain fall. Could be a leaking windshield.
