Stoked, got a second 150CF tank of 75/25!

    20220717_155002.jpg

Guy said it was full, and though it doesn't have the seal on the valve...it's heavy as hell. Had a fill date of March of '22 and it came from the same local shop I get my gas from so that's a plus. He owns a fabrication shop as he builds low riders and said he prefers the larger 250-300CF tanks instead.

Traded him my RC car for it because really, I have no time nor the interest to mess with it anymore.

    Thanks!

After having replaced the front part of the driveshaft, some pins and circlips, and the spur gear (it was GONE), I got it up and running.

Told myself I can't see myself using it especially in this 110 degree weather so I posted it last night for Sale ($325) or Trade (75/25 gas). Got a message right away and did the trade earlier between errands.

Only half decent weld from today. I need to do it more consistently.

Trailer fix for my wife's family member.

I got some pieces cut and drilled, and welded some hooks to act as tie downs -

The upright angle iron pieces are barely attached at the bottom. That and one completely broke off on the right side -

Once all the bolts were removed and clean metal exposed, got some flat stock tacked.

The welding cart I made is coming in clutch -

Did more work and less pic taking, but it's all welded up!

Fortunately I have plenty of extra steel so I made a new upright and got it all tied in together -

I'm spoiled as I'm used to welding on a larger Miller Multimatic 255 or a 3-phase Miller CP300 transformer-based welder. But I must say I'm really impressed with the Primeweld MIG180.

Not once! We detached it from the vertical pieces.

But we did spend at least 10 minutes cutting off old rusted bolts, and hitting the trailer with a grinder cleaning up as much paint as possible.

Had to remind her uncle a few times "the metal's hot" so he wouldn't accidentally touch it.

Glad I made those holes flanking the hooks, as the whole thing is much sturdier than when it came in.

Was going to say, it looks good but I'd be worried about the width of that heat affected zone.

Do you have pulse available on your machine? Otherwise, I'd just weld that with MIG. I use tri-mix whenever I weld stainless steel though others can chime in on the gas they use.

My machine does, my friend recommended the same thing. I'll try it out next time. As for the gas I only have one bottle so I haven't tried anything other than 100% argon. Not a very big operation in my garage haha.

more heat, more filler, and more speed. Heat input and HAZ are a product of heat and time, if you can bump up the heat 20%, and increase speed 50%, while adding more filler (100%) you can lower the overall heat input to the work piece drastically.

and that does not look like stainless, so unless my eyes are lying to me (quite possible) stick with 100% Argon

It's what happens when I post quickly from my phone

Thought it was based on the lack of mil-scale and the rainbow colored beads.

    Definitely mild steel.

Remember wet Gloves and clothing never mixes well with welding .

nothing like getting a tickle when your leaning on the table to reach something.

I still have a strong dislike for the hot humid summer besides the sweat running in my eyes .
