Couldn’t agree more with your assessment on the taco v gladi debate. No point in full sending a taco. They’re great trucks but you can’t un-tacoma them or you’ll have defeated the purpose of the reliable toyota truck. If you wanted a crawler, ya shoulda just got a jeep.

I agree that the new superdutys are sweet but I am not a ford guy (with a few exceptions). I’d hop into a new Cummins in a heartbeat, buy a k2xx GM, or build a 6.0 before scooping up a new 6.7 ford.

I’d look into a new tundra because daily driving an HD truck would get old. They’re massive and as a Toyota guy having a 3rd gen tundra in the fleet would round out my driveway pretty well lol. Tacoma, 4runner, and a Tundra. Plus I really do like the updated gen 3. I honestly wouldn’t consider any other standard 1/2 ton (excluding the raptors, trx’s etc)

2016-2017 DCLB Tundra if you don’t need any payload.

2011-2019 Silverado 3500 HD 6.0 gasser if you do.

Guess I’m the opposite on HD trucks even though we see eye to eye on midsizes. I’ve never owned an American truck… or even car now that I think of it. Hand-me-down Volvo S40 from my mom, BMW E30 and E36, Toyota 2nd Gen 4Runner and 3rd Gen Taco, an Alfa Romeo 164 annnd a Range Rover Classic(yeah my love of old German, British and Italian cars is a big part of why I daily a Toyota truck).

But if I was buying American definitely Ford. Always been my favorites from any era (except the bulbous 150 in between the OBS and the one that started the design language that carries up to now, we can forget about that one). Dodges just look too deliberately aggressive for my tastes, and Chevys aren’t known to do well for the pounding I’d put it through(I won’t be rock crawling bud I’d absolutely take long trips off the grid on rough roads still with a hd truck). I feel like the Tremor is what the Power Wagon should’ve been, a true 3/4 ton with some off road chops. Power Wagons are really half tons capacitywise. I like GM’s gas engines better(besides the new 7.3) and Dodge’s diesels better but I like the package you get overall with most Fords better.

edit: oh and on the daily factor I’m starting to think seriously about a sports car(prolly the new Z) to pair with the Taco and that would be a must with a 3/4. I’m also thinking of moving to Montana lol and a 3/4 would work much better there.

Santa Cruz looks like a larger version of a Subaru Brat. Next to the Ford Maverick it's the ugliest so called truck out there

These unibody trucks do everything well except rough off road (minimal ground clearance and no low range usually). So for those who dont do that and just need a bed to load stuff occasionally theyre perfect. My buddy has a ridgeline with 200K+ mi and its still going strong. Hes since bought a diesel ZR2 Colorado that got 6" lift and 37's (bad ass colorado) But I've gone on many trips skiing and hauling stuff to his mtn condo and the ridgeline is great. Rides just like a honda pilot (which is very good) because the body/frame is basically the same. Anyway for most people its probably the way to go if your not going off the grid. For me I need to be able to tow a 7000+ lb TT with the wife and two teenagers and a bunch of gear. Yea a HD truck would do that better but 3 or 4 times a year I dont want to drive a tank. I've owned a F150 and a Silverado 1500. The Rams are so nice on the inside but look up the Lifter issues on the Hemi's. For that matter all 3 have their own issues. Id get a used Tundra but the people I've talked to say they get around 12mpg mixed mostly around town. Hell I get around 14 to 15mpg around town. The GM 5.3 seems to do the best of the gas V8's and the ford 3.5EB can do very well if you stay out of the boost with light loads - this is where I'm leaning toward CPO. The Ford 5.0 is a great motor AFAIK. Then theres the small diesels that are interesting. Tons of torque but not too much HP? Its the toughest decision I've had on a vehicle. Good thing I'm not in a hurry. Having said that maybe a 23 Tundra might come in to play? Cant argue Toyota greatness. I've had two Tacomas spanning 23 years and nothing but praise for those. Funny thing is I bought my 99 Tacoma when the Chevy had a tranny issue for the 2nd time I said F that and got a MT Tacoma. LOL ;):cool::burnrubber:

Well, I am not replacing the Taco - but adding a big brother to the family. Sold the bullet proofed 6.0 and ordered me a 2022 Power Wagon. Should be here Tuesday! Love the Taco, but it can’t pull the toy hauler!BF3C80EB-4175-4478-957C-2F7D2C006CE6.jpg

Yeah, this was posted on another forum I am on and I called the dealership and they told me that was the price - whadda joke! I HOPE whoever bought it did NOT buy it for that price! My local Ram dealer wanted 84K for my PowerWagon. I ordered it out of Louisiana for 71k. Prices are literally ridiculous on everything right now!

I got just what I wanted when I bought my Tacoma at a price that was good. If I sold it that would mean I had lost all direction in life and would probably therefore spend it all on hookers and blow.
