Ditto on the suggestion. I would have painted it around the tape.
Also worried about that panel flying up into the windshield while driving. :(

Little bit of this and that
Transmission fluid change (Redline MT-85) and swapped back to the factory tail lights. The load resistors in both of my Spyder/Tcmabeast tails failed resulting in hyper flash issues while using the turn signals. They lasted almost 3 years and ~40k miles but I think I'll be sticking with the OEM assemblies and just swapping in some VLED replacement bulbs moving forward.

This is what I bought. Haven't installed it yet but looks promising. Right now I have black silicone around it so far it's holding but I want to replace the gasket.

Has anybody here taken the carpet out of their second gen and used the carpet paint stuff to paint it black? I'm tired of finding a crashed base model 2nd gen to rob the carpet out of it

I had a rear wheel cylinder go out on me this weekend while I had the truck pretty far from home fishing. I was able to source the cylinder at an auto parts store and get it on. The symptoms were obviously the reservoir losing fluid but what made me check it all out was the parking brake light and vsc light coming on. I noticed a trail of brake fluid coming from behind the drums.

On the plus side a buddy of mine had a drill press he wasn’t using that was in the area so I was able to pick that up once I wasn’t leaving a trail of brake fluid.

Heads up that kilmat is a Russian product. I bought a box a couple months ago and noticed the tag. I used dynamat in my taco.
I pulled mine out and installed vinyl. It's black and I can wipe down my floor :D

I noticed the "Russian Federation" thing before I ordered the first box if we're being honest. I'm pretty sure all of the sound deadeneing that isn't dynamat comes from Russia

Have a 2500 mile road trip coming up this week. I like to have the option to sleep at a rest area if the need arises. Wanted to improve my bed options. First of all HUGE shout out to @BamBeds. He's come up with a great product, worth every penny, and still on my wish list. To his credit he personally shared a couple key dimensions for folks wanting to take a swing at it themselves, which says a lot about him. I still intend to spend some money there. But I took his idea and....

    upload_2022-7-18_11-16-56.jpg

3/4" birch plywood. Takes two sheets. All three boards are identical, except in my case I needed to account for the TC bed stiffeners so one board is notched for those. Works a treat and collapses into a smaller footprint at the front of the cab. No cross supports necessary. I'm not a carpenter and never work with wood, and it shows. Functionally it's all there, but the veneer is a mess in places and I used a two inch hole saw to cut the handslots, leaving lots of finishing cuts to make with no jigsaw available. Used a sawzall. Again...veneer. I then chase all edges with a router, so that looks decent only where the edges are straight, or, only on the outside. Feels good on the hand and functions fine. Still I love Bam Beds design and the option to convert to a rocker. Still may go that route in the long run. Bam Beds also shared that a 10ga Rubbermaid tote *just* slides under the deck. You can see them in the top image tucked in there. I labeled them as well. One is PPE for worksites. One is recovery straps and tow hitch related stuff. The third is all my tie down crap for canoes and general stuff. Worked out well.

Here's the basic board pre-finish. Still a lot more finish work to go than you'd think. There was a total of 56 holes to cut. I finally stopped destroying the veneer after the 6th....:annoyed::anonymous:

you can't blame the Tacoma in that case then. Hell even my dually doesn't like stopping a loaded trailer without trailer brakes.
