that is incorrect. Two fuses but they both power the same outlet. If one is working I’m guessing the connector in the back is loose or the area that gets the +12V inside the female part of the socket is corroded/dirty

It’s easy to “look” smart when you have access to the schematics. Trust but verify I always tell folks. It is impossible to effectively troubleshoot without the right resources.

Not to argue entirely for the sake of arguing buuut, assuming both sockets working, pulling the one fuse and testing would quickly and easily prove the assertation without needing a schematic, right?

I'd say 90% or more of my day job is helping people problem solve / troubleshoot when insufficient documentation exists. Because my company isn't Toyota and we have all sorts of problems creep up which don't have clearly documented solutions.

The truly interesting question is, what if OP checks and determines the connector is intact with the socket which has trouble?

    I'd be curious to know

    1. What is the test method? i.e. what is inserted into the socket to determine working / not working
    2. When was this problem first observed and were any changes made prior to that observation?
These connectors fit pretty well so one of them rattling off the back due to vibration seems to be a low frequency sort of event (hence question 2).

That’s a quick way to diagnose too. The longer way which sucks because of the location. Would be to pull the plug off the back of the socket and measure voltage there. First I’d start with the fuse, then measure the center female part of the suspect socket with a DVM while inspecting for dirt/corrosion. Third to take the dash apart to get to the socket connector and further read voltages at the connector level.
