2006 4L 6cyl 4x4. Doing transmission fluid drain and fill. I drain and filled and doing the AT temp mode. Jumped 4/13 and did the procedure but AT temp light came on solid instead of disappearing and waiting 15 min for it to become solid. Is this a problem ? Or should I go about doing the overfill?

Is the transmission warmed up, or did you start the procedure with the trans cold?

Just added the 2 quarts 10 min ago. Did procedure and instead of illuminating and going away it stayed solid. Again 92 outside. I turned off truck bc I was unsure if that’s how it’s suppose to go and seeing suggestions

with that high of an ambient temp, ima bet you are already past temp if you have been running the truck to push fluid out. Let it sit over night and then tomorrow morning do it.

Note the AT temp check mode isnt as simply as jumping the pins and starting the truck, you have to put it into AT temp check mode with a series of shifts.

yes I’m familiar with the 6 time N to D process. As stated in my original post. I did that and it stayed solid instead of going away. Outside ambient air is my only problem solving issue I came come up with which is why I added that into the thread post.

The service procedure I found says this
I’d do as @nd4spdbh siad and check it in the morning.

And I’d also recommend to anyone else, measure what comes out.
That way, you know how much should be put back in if you run into a problem.

Ya know, its time for to me start my maintenance on my trans fluid here soon

I was thinking id just measure what comes out and put the same back in, never even mess with the checkmode or jumping pins lol

From what I've read is that sometimes, more than often, the fluid is low coming from the factory. IMO, an OBD reader with an app on your phone, a Scan Gauge II or simular is pretty much hassle free and allows for monitoring the trans fluid temperature(s) if hauling and/or going through mountains.

Always do your temp checks in the morning when the truck hasn’t been driven. With these high summer temps you may have already exceeded optimal check temps.

Thank you guys for the replies. The ambient temp definitely made the at temp mode process harder. So took the advice and waited til morning. And everything checked out. Truck was short 2.7 quarts. I had a frame replacement from Toyota and I believe it possible from factory to this replacement they left me short. Had skipping in 2nd gear. And now after doing the drain and proper fill with check mode no more skipping and truck runs great again. Thank you again.
