I just recently got my hands on a free turbo that would spool great off 3 cylinders. Im wondering if it would work to turbo the engine off of one bank of cylinders, or would that create problems with the exhaust?

    Be bold. Be different!

J/k. Don't do that. However. It would spool twice as good, off of all 6.

You would have "weird back pressure issues. 3 cyl driving the turbo and 3 just going into exhaust will not be smooth as far as the crank is concerned. You would basically have a sine wave of power pulses on the crank. #1 cyl hard because back turbine pressure, #2 easy because low BP, #3 hard, #4 easy, #5 hard, #6 easy. Hopefully that makes sense.

Second issues is if you have 1 turbo sized properly for 3 cylinders of displacement, that compressor is not sized for 6 cylinders of displacement. You would need to aquire another turbo of the same size to do it right. That is assuming the turbo you have is proper in the first place.
