Local shops are not wanting to touch the adjustable ball joint so I will do it my self.

Jacking up the knuckle and getting the tire off the ground should take all the tension off uca bolt/nut on the top to change around the star plate, correct?

I had to jack up on the frame and put the tires in full droop to get enough room

Read the instructions. The UCA can be installed without removing the coilover, thus it can also be adjusted without removing the coilover, because the coil spring would be under compression.

The shock limits droop, thus the lower control arm will fall down if you remove the coilover.

If something else limited droop, it would be very difficult to remove the coilover.

Spc ucas aren't under tension because the joint isn't a fixed rubber bushing like the stock uca is. They move freely through there whole range of motion. The coil over could be at max droop and there still wouldn't be any preload on the spc uca.

Maybe I’m simply misunderstanding you, but none of this makes any sense to me. Both the stock and spc UCAs have a balljoint.

The spcs only have one balljoint at the same place as stock.

In the spc install instructions it mentions that they have a different type of bushing, such that it can be torqued without weight on the suspension.

Regardless the stock uca can be removed and replaced by the spc uca without removing the coilover.
