I want to know a little more about that stone overlay!
I pondered the idea of starting a business doing that a couple of years ago.
Is it difficult to do?
Step by step process in a nutshell?

It's not terribly difficult, but it would be tough for 1 person I think. We have at least 3 people for every job. First the concrete is prepped and any forms are put in place in the case of steps.
Our roles are as follow:
Mixer - measures out the epoxy (generally a 3:1 part a/part b ratio). Pours the stones into a big mixer (we can fit 3 bags at a time. So we have 3 bags of stones to 1 gallon of epoxy). When the stones are in and tumbling around in there, the epoxy gets mixed in and it mixes for like 3 minutes.
Bucket person - catches the stones in 5 gallon buckets as the mixer slowly pours them out. 3 bags will do about 4 buckets. They carry the stones to the troweler and dump them out. Bucket person generally is also in charge of keeping things clean.
Troweler - has a certain amount of time to trowel all the stones in place while they're still pliable. Usually goes on about half inch thick everywhere. Steps are complicated. Doors can be tricky. Slopes in general.

Depending on the size of the job, sometimes the set up and clean up takes longer than the job itself.

Is that a nutshell? Or too much? Or too little?

I believe so. We've done some mixing and matching and tried different epoxies, but the parts a and b come in 5 gallon metal barrels with a spout and they can be (probly should be) ordered with the stones.

 

Ya'll still say that ... regarding a car? Who knew?
