I’ve been running the deaver stage 1 leaf springs but I’m ready for more travel. So I’m going to do the Chevy 63 leaf spring swap. I’ve done my research and the only thing I can’t find is how far forward does the new front spring hanger go in front of the old one?
Anyone whose done this mod your help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you seen this video? The guy shows how to measure and mark to do the swap.

Yes this was one of the more informative pieces I found.
But what I’m really looking for is someone who has done this on a 3gen 2016-2020 Tacoma so I can confirm all the measurements.

For anyone looking thru the post, I completed the Chevy 63 swap with no issues. Rides way better then my deavers and they have substantially more travel.

Exhaust will need to be cut back to clear the new longer spring and shackle.
Gas tank shield will need a very minor trimming to access the nut on the new front driver side spring hanger.
Extended rear brake lines will also be required I did 30”

The goal is to keep the axle in the same location so you don’t need to have the driveshaft resized. Use a plumb bob and mark the bump stop pad where it lines up with the top of the axles center.
Then measure the removed springs center bolt to the eyelet, repeat on the Chevy springs then subtract the difference and add 1/2” for the spring to flatten out under load. For my truck this number was 4.75” this is the starting point for how far forward your new spring hanger should be mounted in front of the stock spring hangers.
Tack those in place and tack the rear spring shackle hangers anywhere directly above the spring eyelet. The shackle hangers location will depend on how much weight is on the back of your truck, desired shackle angle, and desired ride height. You’ll come back to that just focus on the front spring hangers for now until the axle is verified to be back in the center location. Adjust if needed.
Make sure the springs are completely parallel the front spring hangers, axle perch, and rear shackle hangers should have the same center measurement.
When setting the rear shackles make sure you have your daily driving load on the truck.
Makes sure both shackles have the same exact angle.
On my truck with my daily driving weight and the height I want the back of my truck to be I have my shackle angle at 35 degrees. For reference I had to cut my tack welds on the shackle hangers twice and relocate them before I got my desired angle.

Here’s a picture of the gas tank cover I had to cut back. A cut off wheel made it quick work.

I’m was trying to check maximum droop but my jack maxed out before the tires even had weight off them lol.

I've done a handful of swaps on these trucks now, so it takes me around 6 hours or so. Someone who hasnt done it, I'd expect around 10-12 hours

I did the leaf spring swap so far and removed the existing shock mounts. I’m still waiting for the archive garage shock towers. I’m about 6 hours in so far. 2 hours of that was probably remeasuring and double checking my work lol.

Nice! What’s your preferred shackle angle?

I set mine based on the max length of the leaf, so when the leaf is flat the shackle is pretty much flat against the frame. Only pic I have right now, but thats basically mine at ride height/leafs are almost flat

    Cool.
Does the spring make contact with the frame or the shackle hanger under full compression?
