Large bird, owl or hawk snapped off my antenna right at the chrome ring with the four notches. I'd like to replace it with a stubby but cannot figure out how to get out the remaining peice. Any help is appreciated

There’s a thread I recall from a couple of months back where this very topic was discussed. At least two reports of successful antenna threaded portions being removed. I’ll see if I can track it down.

Just read the antenna post. Man what a mess for something simple. The nut on mine would not budget so I hit it with PB Blaster and will pick up a reverse drill bit and try that tomorrow. Fortunately mine isnot all corroded and rusty and I'll have success

you have pics? youre antenna just snapped and the threaded part is still in there correct??
if so just use a small drill bit to go in center of broken antenna part then slowly reverse while holding bit at an angle. it may start to thread out.

A while back I had an antenna break in a different vehicle. There was about 4-6 inches of stub remaining. My local auto parts store had an antenna which slipped over the stub and secured with a set screw. Repair took about 5 min and reception was fine

Mine got snapped off in car wash. I used a strong earth magnet and unscrewed the rest out. Assuming your threads aren’t rusted

Mine recently broke at the car wash and I got it out with a left handed drill bit.

Just did this yesterday. Center punched the stuck piece and used a small drill bit. Bit ended up sticking and reversed out the remaining antenna. took me 5 min. I had a #1 screw extractor on standby.

There are some good YouTube vids on replacing your antenna. As far as replacing with a stubby antenna I’d say stick with a regular antenna. When I replaced my antenna I researched the subject and talked to several people regarding regular antenna vs. stubby (even posted here on TW). General consensus was you don’t get nearly as good reception with a stubby as you do with a reg antenna. There were some exceptions but for the most part the regular long antenna was superior for reception compared to the stubby.
Many many people get their antenna snapped off at car washes. I went through car washes several times before mine snapped. When I got my new one it came with a tiny special wrench . Now before I go thru a wash I remove the antenna. It takes less than 10 seconds to remove or reattach the antenna. I keep the little plastic wrench gizmo in the bottom of one of my drink holders so it’s always there and always handy.
