You don't need to spend much time here to find examples of people working on things other than vehicles. If a thread like this already exists I wouldn't be surprised.

Last weekend I mocked up a hand crank operated clothes washing "machine". I use the term machine very loosely, and while it isn't pretty it does work well. Initially I powered it using an old 220 volt hot tub motor but it couldn't keep up without going into thermal protection. Handcrank operation is faster to setup and can be operated anywhere...

Behold Laundkakke - So Many Loads edition.

This is because I live in an apartment and I like being able to do as many things for myself as possible. Going to a laundromat to drop off and pickup is one of the many things I'd like to stop doing. Not to mention they sometimes lose your stuff or give you someone else's clothing.

Schwing Here’s hoping you have down time to practice.

Lets see what other random things have been built by idle hands. I’ve posted furniture I built in the woodworkers thread but this is for things of a different ilk.

One more example of the kind of random stuff I thought members might post up. I made this a few weekends back when I was bored. Spare parts from work. It simply turns 110 AC wall outlet voltage into 12VDC for anything you want to charge or run in a house when you’re not in a vehicle. Charged my Garmin GPS with it before updating the maps.

Over the past decade I was twice involved in a collaborative process to make a human being. They both weeded the landscaping today so they qualified as “useful”, finally.
