Hey all, I’ve been looking to get into my first Tacoma. Was originally looking at something close to new but inventory and prices have been insane. Recently found a 2020 double cab Trd off road with 41k miles…asking seems reasonable under 40k and has the leather interior which I’ve been looking for…would love some thoughts on things to look for if I check it out. I believe I’m out of the warranty except for the power train? Any reason to not look a ‘20 that I should consider?
    Thanks a ton

If it’s certified you can buy the extended warranty

Andddd it's gone....that was fast. Also found a limited 21 similar looking deal...Can anyone share thoughts on the limited? Always seems like there are fewer of them and if I'm not going to be doing crazy off roading anything special to consider?

the Limited will do just fine off road. The Limited's shocks and ride are noticeably stiffer than the Off Road models,, some like that, some don't.

    you bet
aside from a rear locking axle and some electronic crawl control features,,, you can nearly turn a Limited in to an OR with a set of tires and shocks.
I went for the OR, I like the softer ride, and while not often, I do use the rear locker and sometimes features on some pretty unkept hunting properties.

As far as leather is concerned, Clazzios are just as good, easy install and less than $1k to get set up, so I wouldn't make that a non-starter. Similarly shocks are easy to swap, find the model you like (OR/Pro have lockers, Sport/Limited do not IRRC) and the rest is easy swapping.

How about not getting oTaco for the time being? I would opt out buying a tacoma in this market unless it's necessary for work. It doesn't worth getting into a debt. I would rather get a Prius. However, if you have the money, not a problem.

Hold out for the market to settle. Think about it, you're considering buying a 40k mile used tacoma for a few thousand less than new? With NO bumper to bumper warranty(unless you want to pay for it).

We've got a 2012 with currently over 100k miles been flawless, never even needed new front brake pads yet. Only issue, its resale value is pretty low, but its still reliable transportation with low property tax's.

Do not buy used in this market unless it is an insane deal and fully checked out. Do not pay mark ups on new. The market will come back down. So, tried to wait it out if you can. When the prices drop, there will be so many people with upside down car loans. Add in a possible recession and BK galore :)

Thanks for all of the quick thoughts, appreciate the input and agree on the craziness of the market. The limited is a 2021 with 15k miles if I could get it under 40 I may check it out but otherwise I don't think it's worth it. @roboturner thanks for the link, hadn't seen these covers and the interior was driving the thought process here so these look like a decent alternative.

Used are going for more than new. I saw a 2018 DCLB sport with 8700 miles (yes 8700) for $44,000.00. Nuts.

Order a brand new one for less. I can't believe what people will pay to drive it home today vs just being patient and getting a truck with zero miles in a few months.
