    Evening all:

That's great Alan, there are still good people out there.

Felt like I hit the lottery this afternoon, I stopped at a local gun shop/hardware store, and he had some small rifle primers in stock. Two one thousand boxes of CCI 400, and 8 or 9 boxes of one thousand Federal bench rest small rifle primers. Not cheap but at the going price, $90 for the CCI and $130 for the bench rest. I didn't buy any, but I think tomorrow I will grab a box of the CCI 400's, I'm a little low on them and those are the first primers I have seen in quite awhile.

It's called "Pay it forward". It's cool people still do that. I own and operate a hot dog cart/trailer and have customers do that. It's pretty cool to see it keep going from one customer to another to another.

The government won’t let us buy a solid fuel stove. Mine is 35 years old and so it’s grandfathered in but we have so many red burn days that I can hardly use it. I ran NG to the fireplace. I think this winter I’ll buy some removable ceramic logs and blow through natural gas when it red burn. On those fun days with a big snow storm and no inversion, I’ll burn wood.

Thought about all this when we built this place. Opted for air/air heat pump w/ electric backup, and a 42" fireplace for even more backup. Have plenty of wood, but it's a lot of work these days for an old geezer, so now I keep a stock of pressed wood fireblocks during winter. We've tried it, fireblocks burn hot, clean, no popping, will heat the house. Plus, we now have a whole house generator. We're outlying, so need to be somewhat self-sufficient.
We were acid tested by a nor'easter Feb.'92. Power was out for 7 days. Roads blocked, poles/wires down, -32°F, it was bad. I try to stay prepped within reason but can't prep for everything, and it changes in the blink of an eye. Worst scenario for me, is getting stranded at work and can't get home, so I keep the 4WD Taco ship shape. I've been in snow so deep, I was afraid to stop, plowing snow 65 miles home.

The lady in front of me at Safeway was trying to figure out what she would put back because she did I the math wrong and didn’t have enough money. I told the cashier to add her whole tag to mine. The way it felt was just magic. I wish I had the wealth to do it more often.

I hope you had a great time and stayed cool.

Where is the Pandemic, we were in 2 years ago? A decent example of supply and demand economics. Petroleum prices really is not about politics in the long run. The short run, yes it can affect prices. The price is all about investors losing money on Fracking back in 07 and 08 and vowing never to get burnt a second time.

Our country needs more like you.

Yesterday was great. Everything went smoothly and the music was really good. Watched the new Doctor Strange movie on Disney+ last night.
Today is Ribs and chicken on the Weber EX6. Temps supposed to be in the high 90's today. Stay cool ladies and gentlemen.

:pccoffee: Good Morning Porch Pals & Gal! Store run, and paint, so I can start my install. I'll think about taking down and painting those temp boards - I'm changing them anyway, but we'll see. Have to get some pool time, because the wife has been cleared for the water!
Managed to get the wiring chased down (on that breaker?), and in, and filled the hole back up with some supports behind it for the angle iron straps.

    20220722_155928.jpg

Maybe @Devious6 is on a long balloon flight!

I paid about $30k out of my severance when they kicked me to the curb for a new roof and solar. My roof will hold enough to just about make it a wash during a sunny day (we actually do get paid for some, at wholesale rates). Payback? Here is my payback. Wife gets the utilities bill, and it was costing over $500 a month in the summer. Now, it costs her like $70 for the energy part. During the winter, it's less - but so is the load. A bigger than expected saver was the solar film they put up in the attic. Once I get stuff out of the way in the garage attic, I will be having some in there too!

EDIT, I should say, in "winter', AC load is typically less, but South facing solar nets us more cash back and reduced cost.

I took the taco in for its annual rustproofing application from Krown today. Took my gopro this time and shot a video of the process and what it looked like underneath after a year. Keep in mind I primarily drive this truck when it's raining or snowing and Michigan uses a lot of salt to clear the roads. I was pretty impressed with how it looked.
Anyway here's the video if anyone is interested.

Once you reach your “full retirement age” there are no restrictions on how much you earn, your SS benefit will not be reduced. The full retirement age varies depending on your year of birth. For me the age was 66. At 66 I could earn a million dollars and my benefit would not be reduced a single penny.

I'm almost finished with the WiFi refresh here, yay! I still need to install the outdoor unit when it gets here, but at least the wire has been run so it should go fairly quickly. It's been fun, a little challenging with the heat and getting some of the ethernet where it needed to go, but not too bad. And it works really well! It even perked up the aged laptop I'm typing on; I had been thinking about replacing it because it had gotten so slow, but with the updated WiFi it's back to being totally acceptable. So that saved some money.

Speaking of money, I added up everything I spent to put a mesh WiFi with 4 access points and ethernet backhaul on the property, and to my surprise it's several hundred dollars LESS than a 4-unit consumer mesh system! More savings! At least that's what I tell my wife -- all she sees is "so, we had WiFi, you did all this work and spent all this money, and now we have WiFi."

So as not to nerd everyone to sleep, I put pictures and whatnot in an online album. If folks want to take a gander it can be found here: https://photos.app.goo.gl/hshqt1Cp3nFKXf7D8

    Evening all:
Showing off your wealth Greg, a full gas tank! :)
I had something similar done to a 78 F-150 , but not as thorough as what you posted. They drilled holes and sprayed the rustproofing like your video, the material was seeping out for weeks! It must have worked, they were famous for the cab corners rusting out, mine never did. It was reasonable, but I had to remove the overspray myself, you must have got the deluxe job since they washed your truck!

Good morning fellow Porchatonians! Hope all is well with everyone. I've been enjoying having lots of family visiting over the past 3 weeks and haven't been spending much time in front of the computer. Even managed to sleep in a bit so I didn't wake people up using the coffee machine. Last of the family leaves on Tuesday.

I finally hit the time when I could donate blood again - Power Red for the win! Next window of opportunity opens on November 17th.
