    looks are subjective

the point was that rivian is offering much more than just an expensive pick up and suv...

Just wait until the EV Taco comes out. Again, there will be no comparison....

I won't argue that the Rivian looks funky, but plenty of grown ass men also think some 6" block lift and offset wheels looks good. With a Tacoma you don't have to look like a nerd or a douchebag - unless you really want to.

    I dunno...having the choice between driving a Toyota >;D and a Rivian =D
Think I'll take the Tacoma...I'm not really a Wall-E fan.

No EV for me. After reading the story of the Reporter driving from the deep south I think to Chicago and the nightmares she had finding charging stations that worked, nope not for me. She was all excited to do this story on how fabulous the EV's are, and then spent something like 18 hours charging the car. At the end of her story, she stated that the smell of gasoline never smelled so sweet. Like another member stated, they did a towing comparison and the EV truck could only go about 80 miles before it had to be recharged, and if you can't find one of the fast charging stations that actually work, then you SOL.
Besides, I'm an old man, and my Taco only has 146K miles on her. She'll be the last vehicle that I own in my lifetime.

    There you go:

Of course, you’d need to charge when you got to Moab.

So how long do you think people will be able to charge for free?

In DC, VA, MD, the HOV lanes used to be available for zero emissions and hybrids for free, it was an incentive to use these types of vehicles, then like a light switch, everyone had to pay. Once the money runs out, someone will have to foot the bill. I'm thinking a price per kilowatt plus a premium so maybe .20 per Kwh? or do you think they will charge more for lvl 2 charging?

That's the second time in this thread you've posted some.. pretty questionable math. The 13 hour number is on 220V which isn't what you're charging on on road trips.

It's a 5hr42m drive from Denver to Moab or 354 miles. At a L3 DC fast charger, you can add 140 miles in range of 20 minutes. There's multiple DC fast chargers on that route including one right at the half way point in Glenwood Springs, CO. Your trip would take 6 hours. If you wanted to be really safe and do a full charge on an L2 DC, it will still only take you just over 7.

There's some pretty dramatic misunderstanding of EVs in this thread. I posted that I owned an R1T and sold it because I prefer my Tacoma, so I'm not bias, but there's no need to invent fake math.

I looked at it but its not accurate. Maybe for quick driving, see how you can vary things?

Nothing about my Math is questionable. I'm simply using the metrics provided by Rivian and generic distances provided by google maps.

Is that on the currently unavailable and shortest range 110 kWh battery pack? The 135 is what is currently available and the 180 is what I’m waiting for.

I’m not sure what you are doing with the settings. This is what I get with 180 kWh “Max Pack” battery:

Updated to the 180 but my point is that, that website is a good resource but its not a source of truth.

That looks like it's either on the small pack or you've added a bunch of random, unnecessary stops? You're driving 77 miles between charges there which is very wrong.
    Again, why the unnecessary stops?
