I'm having a hard time wiring my radio in correctly I thought I had it right I got it to turn on once and then I can't get it to turn on. And I found wiring color codes online but they don't have green with the red stripe, and they're all a little bit wonky on what actually goes where there's differences in pictures online. Does anybody know what's going on with all this? I have pictures or can take pictures of anything and everything.

What year are you working on?

Are you wiring an adapter to plug the after market radio into the truck harness ?The best way!!

Have you managed to open the fuse in the truck does the new radio have a fuse?

Just how are you connecting solder and heat shrink??

Open fuse or poor connection it did work once!

Manufacture date of the vehicle was 07- 97. I am directly wiring a harness to the wires of the original radio. The radio fuse in the truck located under the dash is 7.5 it says on the new radio use 10 amp AGC replacement fuse only, but I do not see or know of a fuse on the radio itself. And it has not blown my 7.5 fuse.

Right now I'm just twisting the wires together, but I'm also testing and to make sure power is rolling through them. And I'm getting the right power off the battery I even tested the battery itself. This is what's so confusing to me it wouldn't work wouldn't work wouldn't work. I plugged the blue wire out of the new radio which is amp / antenna to the accessory 12 volt wire which gives me power when I turn on the key and it turned on at one point. But the speakers would not work. I unplugged it went back to it after looking at the speaker wires to make sure they were all right, and I couldn't get the deck to turn on again

The new radio is new out of the box?

It should come with a print of the wires .

You have an amp and power antenna?

The Gray wire is switched power the brown wire is the ground on the truck side .

I don`t have the 1997 EWD to give you the correct speaker wires.

I will solder and heat shrink all the connections once I figured out exactly how it's supposed to go but right now I've been struggling to get it to work at all. What's funny is I haven't had dash lights but if I connect truck Side Green with red stripe to accessory Gray all of a sudden all my dash lights come on when the key comes on

This truck has been a project. But I'm definitely tired of not having a radio. The old radio worked on and off I hit a bump it will go off I smacked the side of the dash it will come on. So I wanted to change it and this is what I'm running into

    Truck side!

    Gray Switched Power Brown Ground

Pink and violet left door speaker blue and light green right door.

green /red stripe light blue/white stripe should be constant power double check with your meter

That should get you up and running

The Green/red stripe is the lights

Blue/ white stripe should be constant power for the presets. Double Check with your meter it comes from the dome light fuse.

the print shows blue /Yellow which your plug does not have.

I would disconnect everything and start over. Make sure you have power/ground from the truck. Then connect those two wires to the radio and see if the radio powers on, then start on the speaker wires.

Do you have a power antenna and how many speakers are in the truck?

Okay previously I only checked the radio fuse under the dash, wondering why my dome light wasn't working. Now I have the dome light working and the radio power on no sound to speakers

No power antenna it's solid, and only front speakers that's why I don't have the extra speaker wires

Have the speakers in the truck ever worked?

It is possible they died of old age or the wires going to the door are broken to the point they no longer conduct .

test with your extra speaker at the speaker connection in the door see if it works that tells you the speakers are dead.
