    Hi All,

Moms 07 4runner 2wd (v6 5spd auto, same as 2nd gen taco drive train) has a smidge over 200k easy miles on it. Trans fluid was supposedly changed around 100k.

Im thinking, drain pan, drop pan, clean magnets, replace filter screen and then proceed to do a standard fluid swap (~12 qts) with toyota WS as I have on my 2nd gen taco. My only concerns is being higher mileage and not as consistent changes of trans fluid should I be on the lookout for anything or add any extra additives? The trans shifts phenomenal like new currently, hell the whole car runs fantastic, gotta love toyota.

At that mileage no need to add anything extra like lubeguard.

Honestly probably just overthinking it, Nice clean fresh Toyota WS, cleaned pan magnets and new screen will let the trans live another 200k miles haha.

    Overthinking.

Tons of Toyota's are well past that mileage; I got rid of my 4R just shy of 300k, my Tacoma at 280k, and my LC is nearing 300k as well.

When you open the ATF pan, be on the lookout for metal shavings and/or pieces of clutch material. You should only see black slimy material on the magnets and thin slimy film on the pan. If that is the case, you should feel comfortable completing either a drain/refill or a flush. Even though the ATF filter is a metal mesh, I would still replace with a new one. The cleaning agents in the new ATF may flush out any gunk in the old filter that you miss. I wouldn't add additives if you have no shifting issues. Keep in mind that ‘preventive maintenance’ and ‘don't fix it if it ain't broke’ are conflicting concepts.

The dont fix it if it aint broke was in reference to the process of preventative maintenance i had mentioned.
