It’s not the fanciest. But I just couldn’t justify several thousand dollars for something I’ve never done. So I got myself a cheap but recommended by a few people VULCAN migmax 215 mig welder and a few accoutrements. And a welding cart.

Next I need to get a helmet, a bottle of gas and get 220 hooked up in the garage (shouldn’t be a problem since we have 220 in the next room for the dryer)42B36154-2482-4F64-B02B-A9A83E9136DC.jpg

Ignore the mess I have 3 other projects going this weekend.

It’s not perfect, but not bad for my first cabinet. Some imperfections and so forth. But it will work for sure. Also who cares? It’s for the garage.

Some nice new tools to add to my collections. Picked up a set of Drill and Tap guides. Basically covers anything from the small up to 5/8 size (and metric too)

They are definitely nice thats for sure. Easy way to make sure you get a straight start drilling or tapping. Only things that could make them better is if they had a magnet in the base so you could just stick it to the pipe or whatever and not have to clamp it/hold it one handed.

has anyone retrofit fluorescents with LED bulbs?

have 4 or so fluorescent fixtures and have 3+ bulbs out. At $10 ea for new bulbs I'm trying to decide if I'm gonna retrofit or just replace the fixture with led fixtures entirely
