Apogee 3rd Gen Tacoma Rear Bumper Dual Swing Thread

I've been sort of interested in a dual swing out bumper, but I really don't want all that stuff back there for daily driving. Apologies if this was covered, but can the swing outs be removed when not needed? I'm sure that raises some theft issues, but maybe some sort of locking pin hinges or maybe just remove a couple bolts

 

From the renderings, it does look like they can be removed, but only to be confirmed by @Apogee Offroad

 

They will be able to be removed, but there will be welded brackets that remain on the bumper still. They will have one large spindle with a nut and cap on both sides that allow for removal. I sure hope no one would steal a set of very specific swing outs!

I was on the fence about swingouts before, but this has convinced me. Very excited to see the final product!

 

Don't forget those of us who already have your rear bumper! Although, I *hate* the thought of pulling that thing off and putting it back on again, took forever to align it properly so it was even on both sides and also allowed the gate to open without rubbing...ugh.

Yes, the whole plan from the start was to have it available for people who already had a bumper and wanted the add on.

...when the dual swing bumper is available

 

Hi guys,

Hope you are all doing well. I wanted to give an update on the swing out project and in fact, Apogee Off Road.

We are currently in the process of moving our production facility. This means a few things.

Most importantly, this means our production factor is changing. We will only produce bumpers when 5 people have ordered. Seems silly, but this ensures that we don't have any stock laying around during the move and each bumper won't cost $2000 raw for a "made to order". This will obviously benefit the 5th buyer and draw back from the 1st. But it's the only way we can keep the ship moving through the move. We hope to resume our full production figure by the end of the move.

What this means for the swing out project:

The project will be on long term hold. We have no means to complete it as it sits. With the chaos of the move, we don't see this happening until we get back to our full production capacity.

 

Darn, have been anticipating the swing out rear steel bumpers for some time and looks like I will be staying stock rear bumper until that day happens for y'all. Would be nice to explore options like crowdfunding to make this project move along to a projected date of sale. I’d be glad to send some funds if it ever were an option. Thanks for the heads up though and will continue to wait!
