Hello Everyone, I'm new to this forum and I sure could use some advice. So I have a 2005 Tacoma, it was modified with a 2016 bed from TRD Pro, what the previous owners did was basically take the tail light bulb and harness for the 2005 and Dremel tool out the 2016 taillight housings to fit the bulb sockets into them. I am trying to replace the housings/lens with new ones, but I don't want to do it that same way mainly because it was a horrible seal from water and dirt, the new housings came with bulbs and the sockets that insert into them they have male contacts in them. The dealer was the only place that seems to sell the harness for these and the price is ridiculous, because its the entire harness all the way to the engine bay. I tried to find a place that sold just female plugs that fit into the sockets, and I found only one place and they wanted $80 for each plug for which I need four. It seems parts for this at the bone yard are non existent. One even better option that I think might work is I found a CURT trailer wiring adaptor kit, and if I buy two of them I may be able to cut it apart and have all the female parts/plugs I need, that would be about $120. I just have to figure out what wires go where to adapt this. Has anybody done this or have any resources about the 2005 wiring diagrams vs the 2016? Thank you in advance for any advice!!

I'd figure out how many wires each side the go junkyard scrounging on GM vehicles, looking for their male/female weather pac connections with enough wires for one side (it can have more, just dont use them), then cut out a section of harness about a foot each side of the connector.

Use a DMV or test light to figure out the wiring. Use jumpers to confirm arrangement, then solder and heat shrink.

Now. We require photos of this mixed generation truck!
