I've got Squadron Pros with spot lenses and yellow covers. My lights are aimed straight ahead, and I have Squadron Spots with combo lenses in the fog pockets for close up.
My purpose is driving at night in the the winter on backroads to the ski trails, I don't use the Pros if it's snowing, or foggy, but with clear air they are great as far as I can see.

The Sports get used much more often, they fill in the highbeams really well, work great in almost all weather, and light the sides for wildlife.

Nice set up, but technically not ditch lights? More like a flood or spotlight per your usage.

Yes. You can exchange for brighter H11s or you can shoehorn some H8s in there with a little bit of tab cutting.

Same. I almost never use my lightbar. :anonymous::anonymous:

Has anyone actually compared the SS Pro (driving) against the cali-raised knockoffs? I'd love to see what the differences in beam spread and output are between the two.

Sorry to ask but I’m about to put on ditch lights (to actually light up the ditch) and it’s my first time doing such mod.

I know some folks have multiple additional lights and wire them to a dedicated panel (sorry, I don’t know the proper term), but for me this will be it.

Am I ok wiring them to the battery directly?

Use a relay. Did your lights come with a relay harness? (some do, some don't.)

The relay is ok to wire directly to the battery.

In my super scientific testing of comparing on trips or meetups, there’s a noticeable different in output between rigid and the cheapos.

also longevity. The knock offs won’t hold up in the weather and will fade, crack, etc over time. Mine still pretty much look new.

My recommendation is to save your money and don't buy them. I have them and have never used them.

i think i bought some harbor freight flood lights for mine plus the harness (4 years ago), came in extra handy when a narrow road had a tree down at night after a storm and ditches were steep on each side. All the other times i use them as extra light when im driving through fields etc.

Standard black covers work well on mine. Both are pointed down and in my immediate area on either side.

If you use an add-a-fuse from one of the hi-beam fuses as the input to 86 and you get lights that only come on when they are turned on AND the highbeams are on.

Experimenting with different lenses now on my A-Pillar lights. Running DD SSC2 Pros with SAE Fog lens on the left and a Combo(Flood/Spot) lens on the right. Hope this helps.

    Just the driver SAE Fog;

No problems with glare whatsoever. Never even crossed my mind.

My SS3's are pointing straight forward (in fact, they're almost tilted in slightly towards each other to get them to cast a single long range "spot light").

If you had the flood lenses pointing straight forward, it would be more noticeable, but even then... (I wouldn't recommend flood lenses for anything other than side shooters).

I previously ran the Cali Raised LED side shooters. They dropped a little more light on the sides of the hood, but even then those weren't bad at all either. Not enough to bother me one bit.
