I’ve got a good one that I hope someone has either some experience with or someone can provide some guidance….

My cruise control lever/button began working sporadically, so I ordered a new one and replaced it. As I was researching exactly how to replace it I saw a YouTube video that it might not be the lever and could be the clock spring. I bought a new clock spring and when I pulled the steering wheel and old clock spring I found that there was not an angle sensor.

I’ve had my Tacoma for over two years now and I’ve never noticed anything odd about the steering. It has been lifted. The only odd thing I’ve ever noticed is when braking it sometimes feels as though the ABS is activating unnecessarily.

Any thoughts on this will be greatly appreciated. Everything I’ve found tells me I should have noticed that something is wrong. This truck runs beautifully.

Typically its a failing ABS sensor or tone ring.

If it happens at low speeds, its very likley that. Lower speeds are more sensitive to wheel speed and will cause irregular ABS behaviour.

Only models with VSC have steering angle sensors I believe. It was an option back then.

If your truck doesn’t have VSC, you won’t have a steering sensor.
My truck doesn’t have it either. I think it was standard on 2009+ trucks.

I did read a lot about the VSC. I couldn’t find anything about it being an option. Thank you. That’s what I was hoping for.
