    I just took this spark plug out of my wife’s RAV4. The threads were coated in oil. How bad is this.

    2014 with 106xxx the other plugs looked normal to me. This one had a good coat of oil and the rust colored ring on the white part.

    I had it at the dealer last week for something else, and they said it threw a code for a faulty purge valve. I just replaced it with the plugs.

    Valve cover gasket. More specifically the plug well seals. That’s probably the issue.
    I’d replace them sooner than later. If enough oil seeps in, you can get misfires.

    On the the other hand, people drive around with wet plugs for a long time. Mostly because they don’t know they have a leak.

    It’s not that bad but a project for later for sure.

    ravs are bad for purge valves so it’s a good idea to get that replaced soon as well.
