I have the 4WD with the MT so I will just do gearbox, transfer, and both diffs at 15,000. AND a oil change.
I'm on the 5-10-15-20-25-30-35-40 mile change plan,.... why write it down when the truck can count just fine. Easy to see and remember.

I grease driveline & uca zerks every year/ auto tranny drain-refill, front diff, rear diff, and transfer every 5 years/ oil change every 1,000 miles (approx every 6 months.) Changed out the other fluids (brake, pwr steering, coolant) at 33,000 (15 years.) Since i average around 2,200 miles a year I go by time more than miles driven. Mostly short trips, towing the boat, and the occasional offroading.

The PreRunners haven't for some time. I know my '15 doesn't.

My guess is because serviceable u joints don't always get serviced often enough. Manufacturers have been moving away from them for years. Sealed, non greasable joints are a better option for the average, non wrenching type person.

Thats a bit early. I believe those engine's are already broken in with no need anymore to do that early an oil change like back in the day. Engines today have precise tolerances that don't require this. The dealer will do it at 5k miles.

Other than an oil change, everything else is a total waste of time and money. But, it’s your truck, do what you want.

Little too lazy this morning to read all 3 pages, but I would do the oil at least at 5k. There was a good amount of glitter in my filter. I wasn't worried though, as the filter clearly did its job.

The drivetrain I would wait. I did mine at 30k and they were all pretty clear. The magnet on the rear dif needed a cleanup but the condition of the fluid wasn't bad. This seems to vary from owner to owner though. I think 30k initial was a good idea...but I'm waiting 60k to do them again.

Here is what my rear fluid and drain plug looked like:

    This is very true.
Here is an interesting article on greaseable vs. non-greaseable joints.
"Bottom line on strength: The non-greaseable joint is slightly stronger than a greaseable joint. The exact number, how much stronger, is unknown and we do not believe it to be very significant.

Bottom line on wear life: A regularly greased greaseable joint will outlive a non-greaseable joint. But a non-greaseable joint will outlive a greaseable joint that does not get greased properly. "

I saw a Toyota master tech suggest a break in change as soon as 1,000 miles on a new engine. I’d honestly change it ASAP if I were you. Cheap insurance.

You listen to this one guys opinion, and think he's the oil change god of the universe come to save us all from blowing up our engines....give me a break! Change your oil everyday if it makes you happy, but in reality your just wasting money, and resources.

Add Petr to the list of technicians recommending 5k OCIs. Combined they have over 500,000 subscribers. I’d hardly call that just one internet guys opinion? What’s your opinion based on? I can’t wait to hear this answer. Oh, and before you quote the user manual, don’t bother.

Well personally I’m inclined to listen to the advice of a master tech who rebuilds these engines for a living over some anectodal accounts on the internet. But that’s just me, it’s up to the owner to maintain their car how they see fit at the end of the day.

Wasting money? Tell that to his three customers just this week. Sounds like you are commenting on something you didn’t even watch.

Some people dont think of oil as being important.
23,000 First oil change,.. only 3 quarts drained out and the filter only dropped 4 ounces it looks like.
