Coming from a 1st gen Tacoma and was driving a bare bones, no frills 2wd 4-cyl Tacoma. I honestly couldn't believe how well the base model with nothing on it drove. It was so bare bones that it even had the rear seat delete from the factory. The rear space of the extended cab was just bins in the floor. It was a fantastic deal for and stickered at $26k. They have a $500 rebate too so made it even a better deal. Awesome value IMO.

They come out of the box being fantastic. Any idea how much more a 4x4 model would be? Same rebate??

Rebate? On a Tacoma? Or was it something like military cash or college graduate cash that had nothing to do with the model?

The only rebate listed for Tacoma on the Toyota website is the $500 military cash. Also, a 2wd 4 cyl SR starts at $27,150 so unless it was a used truck I don't see the $26k sticker.

Just priced it up on Toyota USA site. $26650 including PDI. Rebate not included. Wish they were available in Canada!

Odd....strange that the difference is exactly $500 from what I saw on the same website. Granted, I didn't build it, just looked that the "starting at" for the trim level. I did put in a zip code though. Maybe it's the fact that the SE Toyota Distributors mafia is involved here in FL and the $500 is their taste!

That is the 'utility package'. Perfect if you don't need the limited rear seating of an AC but yet want a bit more secure cargo area. And of course that 2wd is all you need.

Hard to imagine saying 26k is 'good pricing' on a stripper, but in today's market, it is.

And that assumes that a dealer has a stripper like that allocated and is willing to sell it at MSRP. The trucks you build on that website don't necessarily exist in the wild, you have to hunt them :)

    Oh look, another mod....
Yeah, it always cost a lot to get rid of the body glitter and perfume that rubs off on you. Err....so I hear. A friend told me!

Agreed. The only way I'll ever buy a new Toyota in their region again is if the lot has exactly what I want already sitting on it, at the price I'm willing to pay.

They created a very dissatisfied customer in 2004 and my memory still works.

I've successfully bought used locally (including my 5 lug), but that's a different scenario and a different kind of shopping.

Sliding rear windows are over rated. Just throw your beer cans in a well kept yard where someone will pick them up. I hate to see litter on the highways.

I managed to get a utility package for MSRP with four-wheel-drive, it’s supposed to come in sometime later this week after weeks of delays in Mexico.

They’re not that unusual here in northern California, I really like how you still get a lot of value for your money.

I’m trying to hunt down a cheap, new topper but the prices are just insane even on the “value” models.
