Oh no, I can swap out a grille. I watched a video and stayed at a Holiday Inn.

i actually like this guy, and if you change your oil at 5k you’re out $40-$70 bucks more every 10k/year but one things a fact, you’re not gonna be worse off other than the minimal cost.

Your mileage and oil change may vary. We drive under varied conditions.

I do 5k oil changes, since I do them myself it let's me get under my truck and look for other anomalies (leaks, loose bolts, torn boots etc) oil is cheap and takes me less than an hour and I'm doing it every few months it's not like once a week or even once a month so why not

The quality of different brands’ oils and all their subtypes ranges wildly. Amsoil could still be doing a better job lubricating at 15K than say, Amazon brand oil when it’s brand new. The guy said himself that Toyota dealerships use whatever the cheapest oil they can get in bulk at the time… So who is he to declare that someone who always does their own changes at 10K with top shelf oil is worse off than someone who changes it every 5K, but uses Walmart’s cheap shit?

It’s like saying batteries last “this long”… Well, which batteries? IME Duracells usually last 2 or 3xs longer than cheap generic batteries. Same with oil and most products in this world for that matter. Not to mention, there are other factors that can damage rings and cylinder walls besides just the oil change interval. I think the CCN often has good advice, but this video is way more conjecture than actual science. All that said, personally I do 5K changes with good quality (but not top shelf) oil, like Mobil 1, Castrol, Pennzoil, etc… Whatever name brand is on sale at the time usually.
