How are y'all mounting these levels?

 

Got my Overland Softgoods sheet set today and they threw in a very cool keychain.

 

Has anyone purchased just the GFC pop up tent without the full bed rack, then installed the tent on a different rack (I have an RCI one) so that the top of the tent is flush with the cab (or cab rack if you've got one of those)? This would mean the tent would hang a foot or so off the back of the truck bed, if you have a 6' bed like I do.

This is how I want to set mine up, but I'd like to know that someone has made it work before I try it and didn't have much luck searching.

 

Look for pics of people doing that the CVT Mt Hood and RoofNest tents. Same concept and same style tent. Will probably be more popular or easier to find.

 

I just put mine onto the extrusion with T-nuts.

 

I have my appointment date coming up in 2 weeks, how do I dust/weatherproof underneath my rail caps? Do I just put aluminum tape over the holes and lay down silicone all over and place the cap back on?

Do I lay it down just over the holes or completely underneath the caps and is silicone needed?

 

Its wide enough. covers the bed rails, put your caps back on over it. Its like a super sticky silly putty this waterproof tape. No silicone needed.
Put in the freezer for a lil bit before using to make it easier to work with. Once warm or hot, its a putty mess.

I'm worried the GFC is longer than any of those though and might flex too much if I tried to climb in from the back...

 

possibly. Maybe it will be better on top of a rack on a cap?

 

yeah or just give in and go full GFC. Decisions decisions...

 

You only live once bro. Live it up! Besides in the grand scheme of things it’s not that much money when you stretch it out.

 

I was already SofTopper, rack and clamshell tent. Was already pretty much same style setup just with all the down sides. I sold all that, which does offset the costs.
