My passenger door closes all the way to the fully closed position. But does not stay closed. It seems like the latch in the door is not staying in the closed position, and I can easily manipulate the latch in the door and move it back and forth easily from the closed to the open position. Does anyone have this problem before?

You can take a screw driver and manipulate the door latch by pushing the rod portion of the screwdriver into the latch like the strike plate does, you can see how the latch parts are moving and if there is something visually wrong

I did manipulate the latch and it moves freely back and forth from the open and closed position. Do I need to replace the latch assembly?

Your inevitably going to be open up the door panel to have a look.
Something is loose, broken or fallen off.
