CV Axle Boot Tore

Well it happened. I was an idiot and put off doing the CV Axle Boot mod after lifting my truck thinking I had more time and when I dropped it off for service this weekend they point out that both inner boots had torn. Now I gotta cough up at least $500 to repair them. Since I dont want to have to do this every 6 months I need to do the mod. Is it a permanent fix or will the cv axle boot still tear down the line? If not is the only solution a front diff drop kit? Or special CV axles?

 

Are they torn or just cracked? Some shops will sell boots in any state.

If its leaking grease then ya, you need them.

Diff drop reduces inner boot wear, its what most do.

There are high angle boots, what kind of lift do you have?

 

How much is your lift. Anything above 2.5 inches will mess up your cv boot . Some say a diff drop doesn’t do much in 3rd gen . A cv slide mod will help though from what I read on here

 

3.5” Lift kit, i knew I’d need to do the mod I just got lazy and hoped I had more time. Idiot move on my part.
