What was the best compact pick up from the mid 80's? I guess it would have been the Toyota pick up. I liked the styling of the later Mitusbishi Mighty. Max, over Toyota. The later Isuzus looked pretty good. Many manufacturers introduced a new generation of compact truck sometime during the 80s. GM and Ford kept the same truck for design for the entire decade, if I recall correctly.

I think the Mazdas, Fords, and Nissans were the most popular, saw the most mileage and were on the road the longest. Along with Toyota.

No Mitsubishi or Toyota in this comparison.

I had a few friends with the Mazda pickups (before they were Fords) and was always impressed by them. S10's were junk. The one I wanted was the Toyota. People complain today about rust on their Tacomas but on a quiet night, you could hear those 80's trucks rust.

    Cheers.

    80s?

Ranger for commuting and actual small truck things.

Toyota if you wanted a trail truck that wasn't a scout or a jeep.

Toyota, 22R motor, manual trans mine had 400k when I sold it. Other than maintenance I had to replace the radiator, starter and 1 axle seal.

My first truck was just like this but grey. So to me this is the best from the 80s. Also only 80s vehicle I had
