His Tacoma don't run so good.

 

My ECU has a fried circuit. PN 89661-04220. My truck is about as slow as a semi truck right now.

 

I’m also pretty sure I’ll be needing knock sensors and a harness if anyone has some of those lying around.

 

I'm sure you can find some junkyard Tacomas; ton of them end up getting dumped or stripped due to rust...especially out in your area.

CA commands a higher demand, as well as pricing, and the things you're asking for come up for sale here as well for not much. So what I'm saying is, it should be pretty easy but if you'd like I can check the local FB Toyota group I'm in.

 

7ft bed is a dream of mine, but I'm not brave enough to go any older than a 1st gen. I don't imagine a pre-Tacoma would be much fun for long drives on the interstate.

Would be a sweet around-town or weekend rig though.

 

Im not up on the PN anymore. But I don't think that is the Supercharger approved one. But I can't remember I'll have to dig into my own build thread to remember ha

I do for sure have one from a 95 though. Not 100% sure its in 100% working condition. But think it works just fine.

 

I don't have a v6 but reading lots of stories on here about people's experiences over the years you'd be better off buying a new knock sensor and harness.. I personally wouldn't trust used ones. If it's stock that harness is going to crumble when you try and remove it

Yep... after I wrecked my 95 5vz tacoma I tore it all appart

low and behold the really weird running problem I was never able to find was the knock sensor harness that was corroded straight to hell

 

Maybe Zane can chime in cause I never messed with a Tacoma/4Runner knock harness/plug but it's especially a problem for Land Cruisers.

The plug gets brittle as hell and deteriorates if you even look at it wrong. I had a knock sensor code a few weeks back but quickly took care of it by cutting off the old and putting in the new.

 

The I8MUD high council just started having back spasms and they don't know why

You're supposed to call every dealer in the country to find an entire NOS wiring harness, spend $1200 on it, and break half of the ancient connectors trying to plug it in

A modern drivetrain would make for a fun rat rod style shitbox to run errands in, I think.

Shit, thank you for the reminder. I forgot all LCs catch fire when anyone other than a Toyota tech works on it in a Toyota specific shop
