The one I have was my great uncles, dad inherited it when he passed many years ago and I "borrowed" it for my wife to shoot 10 years ago and never returned it. He knows I still have it

Dropped off my current part in QC.. just a basic tight tolerance tooling plate from some 17-4.

    PXL_20220803_165548559.PORTRAIT.jpg

..saw that some of my other parts were back from OSP.

    PXL_20220803_170531509.PORTRAIT.jpg

Then my part finished up checking flatness. Was told to leave extra on the Overall for Bossman to grind to hit the .001" flatness. I left it just over Nominal.. and tried my hand at hitting it or close to. (Since we're kinda slow, why not take some time)

    PXL_20220803_171026150.PORTRAIT~2.jpg

Showed him my report card.. lol. He said well.. you're definitely the flat guy. No grind needed.

Now onto the next part of this assembly. Just one of these from this round stock. Going to dovetail then grab it in the 5th Axis centering vise in the UMC (5th axis) for one dumb side hole. Lol.

My coworker programmed some of the other components and passed them off to one of the guys here.

    Remmy parts only, sorry.

@wilcam47 No luck on the stud. Is the stud itself actually broken or is it just a loose fit with the interceptor latch?

I was a Remington armorer for my agency so I have some inside info. They make thicker retainers to correct a loose fit from use. If it’s just wear causing problems the fix is to replace the interceptor retainer with a thicker retainers to snug it up. You want a slight amount of play when reassembled.

Brownells has the retainers in stock. Last listing is a 3 pack with all sizes.

Powder coater ask if I could tack one of these brackets on so they can be broken off after painting the other side. I said I’ll try, the only problem is burn through when you grind the welds off.

They tried glue but it failed in the oven.

    Nasty spool gun tack.

    Burn through from small tack.

Stainless or aluminum? They make weld cleaner machines that takes the carbon off the metal.

Aluminum. It's the burning of the paint on the opposite side when they grind the weld off to make it flat again is gonna be the problem. Get it too hot and it'll blister the finish.
