    What's up TW.

Some of you might know I make the X-Trek Grille inserts for the third Gen Tacomas as a side gig and for the past few months I've been working on a custom bumper I designed for myself.

I was originally just planning on making this for my own truck but just within my own friends who have Tacomas they want one as well now. I know there's a lot of options out there but was wondering if I did a low run production would anyone else be interested in one?

The current one in the pics below I made was out of aluminum (I wanted to go light weight) and was the first prototype, it's a little rough but will give you a good visual. I have done a few tweaks to it since these photos (I made the top portion a little beefier looking and some other modifications to make it more functional)

It could also be made out of steel or different material thicknesses. This bumper does allows for a winch, light bar, and I designed it to use a special kind of LED fog/flood lights.

I don't have any info on pricing yet but would probably cost around what other bumpers are going for +/-. Although I'm sure aluminum would cost more if someone would want that option.

If anyone has any helpful suggestions to make the bumper better I'm all ears but please remember this is the prototype, not done yet.

Let me know if you're interested.

    Thanks,

It doesn't look bad, but it appears a little off on each side. Why not make it flush? The rest is perfect. Just the sides look a bit like I did it.

That does look really good. I prefer a bumper with a mid hight hoop on it, but none the less, it looks good.

    4 run, 2 don't
Personally, I don't dig the style (I mean I do, I just think 3rd Gens are ugly).

With that said, as a fabricator, that's a fucking awesome job.

And you did it with aluminum too, not steel.

Can appreciate the thought process that went into this, and hope you do sell a lot!

Do you actually burn that stove next to your Oxy Acetylene tanks? Yikes!
Edit-I see it's not hooked up. Never mind.

Is there any structural bracing behind the surface or is it just the exterior skin. Just wondering how it would hold up to light bumper to bumper hits

The grille insert pictured is pretty neat too imo, to me it feels like an alternate take on the basic elements of the Pro grille that feels more distinct

Thank you, this is the way.

Was planning on adding some hoops...I think tow hooks would look cool but they are not as practical.

    Yes mounts to the frame.

Thank you, a lot of people say it reminds them of a retro style or more classic style older Toyota Grille from the Land Cruisers.
