I have 2022 Tacoma off road with only 16k on it, when I accelerate on a hill or even just to pass someone I sometimes hear a rattling from outside under the truck. Thinking it might have to do with the catalytic? Of course service can never replicate anything, next service going to show him myself.

anyone else have this? Could it be normal on the tacomas?

Possibly a heat shield. I’ve read quite a few guys having a rattle underneath and finding one loose.

Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
    Pinging (preignition) perhaps?
What grade of gasoline are you feeding it?
Also, as @$yoda$ suggests check the heat shield.

Usually those cat shields rust loose after 5 years and rattle. Odd for a new truck.

i get a lot of pinging this time of year when running 87 with super hot/humid conditions. it will stop pretty quickly but it's clear the timing is being retarded and i'm losing power. i have the I4 so ymmv.
