Does this Catalytic convertor meet Cali smog requirements or is it modified?

I have this AP exhaust Catalytic convertor model# 912009. This is for the upper cat.

I am wondering if in your opinion does it look modified in anyway and if its legal for me to install in California?

I initially purchased this Cat on eBay. Texted a photo to a smog shop and they said it looks modified and so can't install it.

So I asked to return it to the eBay seller and they refunded me without needing me to return it, which I thought was odd. Then I bought another one of the same model from CarID.com, which seems to have a decent reputation.

The catalytic convertor I received from CarID.com looks the same as the one the smog shop said was modified so I am confused. Is maybe the smog shop wrong?

My truck is a 2001 Tacoma V6, 3.4L - anyone else have experience with this.
    Thank you

Summit racings website says it's California compliant. I had a smog guy tell me any "modification" to the exhaust is illegal. I've also never had a smog guy crawl under the truck to check. Did yours come with any paperwork saying it's Cali legal?
