CD player

Thank you for noting bit rate. Anybody ripping and listening to cd's take note. Low bit rate rips are the worst.

For the record, i use an old 120 gig ipod classic

 

My 2019 TRD...has a CD player...never use it yet...but has ff buttons and eject ..etc..

bit rate makes a big difference, the ones I bought from Amazon or ripped from my CDs at 256 bit rate or better sound vastly better than the ones @ 128 kbps I downloaded from Napster decades ago.
Although in 1999 and early 2000s when we used little cheap earbuds, the players had not a lot of storage and internet pipe was a thin straw 128 was a good compromise. now that storage is cheaper and more available the quality can go higher.

 

I guess I prefer to actually own the songs I pay for.

 

I came here thinking I was going to see some Walkmans. I remember cutting the yard scratching up all my cds with my old Samsung Walkman haha. Anyways I'm in Napster now just got an AOL instant message from him about a new software update

 

Man... I haven't visited this thread in two years. I didn't remember whether or not my truck had a CD player then, and I haven't bothered to find out since.

 

Thank you for the reminder of the CD player. The 2019 Tacoma TRD may have being the last year for factory CD players?

I completely forgot there is a CD player. I do have a few CDs. I never play it in the Tacoma.

Any one still uses there CD players?

 

Yeah I'm to a place where I mostly pay for the music I download now or buy the CD depending on what method is cheaper.
If I like something enough to listen to over and over then paying should not be an issue and that's how the artist makes money.
I been buying FLAC files from 7digital for a while. Excellent quality because flac is a loss less format unlike mp3. Its plays great with my android phone via android auto. And I'm not supporting Amazon which I'd like to get away from.

 

I mainly listen to Spotify on Bluetooth at “high quality”, but the sound system really comes alive when you put an actual CD in there. It’s still marginally better than the modern alternatives available on your phone.

 

Yeah 2019 was the last year for CD players. My 2020 doesn't have one.

To each his own. I still love my cds for at home but I'm not intrested in that as then I'd have to pick between using that or my android auto when I need google maps.
It's really not that difficult to rip your own cds to mp3 or flac. All you need is a PC or Mac with an optical drive. Yoy can get one pretty cheap to connect to newer laptops and computers that dont have an internal drive. I really prefer that as I can then play my music in many more places.
