I recently got new tires from NTB. They broke one of the sensors but replaced it free of charge. I initially had a problem with the tire pressurenot displaying. Several sources said that it would only work with OEM TPMS sensors. THIS IS NO TRUE.

You do need a dual band sensor but aftermarket is fine. The new sensor needs to be registered which any tire shop can do. Unfortunately, to get the tire pressure to show back up as I did, you may need to manually set each sensor to each corner of the vehicle e.g. Front Left, Rear Left, etc.

I drove about 40 miles with no pressure reading before I finally connected tech stream. Tech stream showed the status as "judging".

Here is the brand (not the exact model) of sensor that was replaced. They are about 1/3 the price of OEM. Are they as good? Idk, but they do work.

For what it's worth, I put 2004 Mazda RX8 wheels, that alledgedly had TPMS per the seller on craigslist, on a 2017 CX-5 and they did not throw "low pressure" as I thought they might. I would imagine there are only a handful or less manufacturers of TPMS' in the world and they likely all transmit a signal that can be read by most cars' control modules.

I had an aftermarket one put in about 4.5 years ago when they put my new wheels on. No issues.
