I was just at gold lake, had a 1st Gen "incident" we stayed at sardine for 9 days. And did a ton of mild wheeling, there isn't much up there that's difficult.

The fire lookout is a must, get up there and check it out. Definitely worth it, plus you get cell service. We usually drive right to the metal stairs.

There’s a ton of fire roads/mild wheeling, but the snake lake loop has some difficult parts.

Snake lake is tough. The OJ bronco has body damage from snake lake, its locked front and rear on 35s. And he said it was challenging even on a dirtbike.

My 68 bronco grenaded the t-case so I wasn't able to do much with it this trip. I had planned on snake lake and driving to the water at deer lake.

No Rubicon? I would recommend doing that before the dusy.

Lmao... I was going to do Rubicon, but no one piped up to go with me. So, my Jeep buddies were doing Dusy that weekend... aaand there ya have it.

If I can do Dusy this year, Rubicon isn't gunna be a problem next year. And my Jeep buddies do Rubi every June, so I know I'll have peeps to go with me.

The biggest thing about Dusy is the length. We're planning 5 days on the trail.

It's 32 miles. Some say it's (overall) harder than Rubicon... but my understanding is Rubicon's hard obsticals are harder than Dusy.

Right now, there are 10 rigs planning to go, so at least if shit happens there will be plenty of help.

I heard Dusy is pretty damn hard, mostly because you can't bypass any obstacles.

    That and it's pretty lengthy.

Dusy is awesome. 5 days on the trail sounds perfect.

My last trip was supposed to be four but we cut it short due to some electrical issues I was having. I really want to go back.

I'm going to be heading out to the vicinity of the bourland trestle sometime soon. Any good side quests or things to see in the area?

Yep. It ain't the Rubicon. If you do all the actual lines in the Rubi it is harder then the Dusy. If you think you're a bad ass for doing the Rubi after taking all the bypasses your gonna have a very bad time on the Dusy.

Yup and now having done the rubicon twice, I definitely didn’t take all the hard lines. Some of them but not all of them.

that said, I don’t feel ready for the dusy.

Just bring a bunch of extra parts and be prepared to do trail repairs. To give you an idea I snapped 4 CV's and an outer tie rod on it. Thompson hill is where most of that damage occurred. Like any trail Thompson varies year to year. On that trip it was in the worse condition in 15 years according to everyone I talked too. It makes Cadillac Hill look like a forest service road. lol

Ya for me, its the length that would be fatiguing. 5 straight days of wheeling all day long gets pretty exhausting. I was pretty tired after the 3rd day on the Rubicon.

Did the Dusy in 3 days and it was plenty of time. But I've also never taken longer then a day to do Loon to Tahoma so there is that. lol

Oh ok that's not too bad. Some people had built it up to seem a lot longer.

For sure. It's 33 miles with about 29 miles of that being low range terrain. It is long and it is tight which forces A-game driving the whole time. 3 days is more then doable though. It really is a fun trail.
