What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

I've been working on adapting https://gfxgauge.com/ (which I started working on a few years ago for my STI) for use in my Tacoma. Here’s where it’s at as of today:



The standard OBD-II PIDs work, but I’ve been unsuccessful in getting the ECU to return transmission temp values using any of the custom PID codes I’ve found so far. I’ve read that some people have issues getting it to work on other devices (ScanGauge etc.) so I’m not sure if the problem is with my truck or gfxgauge, but I’m going to keep trying!

 

Got both rear axel seals, bearings and new shoes on the rear end today. $787

New springs go on tomorrow. Pics to follow.

 

Installed a 1” Toytec body lift to make room for my AWD FJ cruiser transfer case and Northwest Fab crawl box. Sealed that all up last night so it’s ready to test fit in the truck now



Came up with a quick solution to take care of the rear bumper gap using some 1” aluminum spacers and longer bolts.

Finally able to get Rugged Trails/Baja wheels I picked up awhile back to powder coaters and picked them back up today. Previously painted cement gray and one bought off member here that was kinda beat up, had them redone in flat black. Will get them on soon as I can.

 

Cleaned up my Black Beauty and then noticed she just turned over 419,000 miles.

 

You are probably the only dude in texas with a DTF bumper.. if you consider selling that rig I’ll buy the bumper..

Cold Air Intake Horsepower increase, up for debate, but the CIA possumpower increase is undeniable.

 

Grille and headlight change.

 

New headlight bulbs and finished wiring my power/heated mirrors.

 

Past 2 weeks, installed Joying Android HU. Got the OEM bakup camera working. Added a front camera, USB’s, software.

Lubed the passenger side upper control arm (Total Chaos), I wasn't able to get the bolt/nut torqued fully, but it's tight. My new grease gun was also acting up but I fixed it. I'll finish the passenger side and do the drivers side at work on Monday.

I also adjusted the tie rods to get my steering wheel somewhat straight (it was way off). Now I may need to mess with it a little to get the same amount of threads on each tie rod or close to it.

I bought a new box of nitrile gloves from Harbor Freight last Sunday (they are on sale) and I can't find them.

 

Speaking from experience I hope you used white lithium or SuperLube synthetic grease and completely slacked the UCA bolt and walked it back a hair and didn't over grease and expand out your bushings.


It's a bad time if you didn't follow those steps as it turns out.

 

I did loosen the nut so the bushings didn't get blown out and I used SuperLube:
