Got a 2" lift and icon uca's. For those that have made this size upgrade was a cmc needed? Right now i'm on the stock 16" wheels... would upgrading them to a different size or backspace help... don't really want to do the cab mount chop if i can avoid it. Also, did you notice much of a mpg drop/power loss?

Break out the saw. You will not fit those tires on your truck without alterations

I know you have Icon UCA but just for reference 285s on stock wheels rub stock UCA. Not sure how much space the Icons get you

I was running 265/75/16 on a 8.5 rim width that has 0 offset and only had minor plastic rubbing when the suspension cycled.

When I went to a 285/75 on the same wheels I chopped the cab mount, beat the pinch welds flat, and trimmed a bunch of plastic. I can still get them to rub on the plastic when they are stuffed.

    i went from a 265/75/16 to a 285/70/17 after originally considering the 285/75/17. This was on 17x9 -25 4" BS wheels

was pretty straightforward , although my bushwhackers required some trimming. Some heat gun work up front. had spc uppers pushed out to about ~3 caster too

tire matters too, p-rated cooper at3's werent too nobby. All in all wasnt too bad, full size matching spare fits under the truck fully inflated too

edit: let me add that i dont offroad hard at all, and if i did, i would be inclined to CMC the setup just to be safe.

Think i'll stay in the 265/75 camp too.... going larger just invites problems it sounds like.

Can always go pizza cutter and avoid most all the work while getting an actual 33" tire. 255/80r17 or 255/85r16

I loved the look of 33's on mine, but hated the power loss. And that was with a skinny 255-85-16.

    I put 285/75R16 on mine. I do have a 2wd though.

There is no rubbing and nothing was cut, but I have a few upgrades to help. I had a Dobinsons suspension put in w/ SPC UCA. I then had an alignment done with caster maxed out. The other important thing was the rim. I have a 16x8 with offset of -6 and back space of 4.26 to clear the UCA .

The Caster and Offset moved the wheel forward and out to clear the cab mount and UCA and the alignment is dead on.

It is recommended that A 285 should have at least an 8 inch rim to prevent it from ballooning.
