I'm trying to get a 2000, 3.4, 5mt into overlanding condition and my predicament is that I think the gauge cluster currently in the truck is from an A/T donor.

Does anyone know the correct part number for the cluster or a resource to find it?

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
I am not sure just what is the difference ?? How does the cluster tell the difference what transmission the Truck Has.

Take your VIN and search your favorite online Toyota Parts Vendor.

Check out the Part Outs you can message but not post.

Used auto parts in person or online.

What Biv said... OP, try here:

    https://partsouq.com/en/catalog/genuine/locate?c=Toyota

Once you plug in your vin, hit Electrical

    upload_2022-8-7_10-39-9.jpg

Next you'll look for 'METER' - there will be more than one. Tach no/tach

    upload_2022-8-7_10-41-26.jpg

From there you'll need to dig around for the part# but this will get you where you need to be.

My speedometer reads about 7mph off in 5th with factory sized tires, I assume that is for the difference in gearing between the M/T vs A/T trans.

My temp gauge also always sits in the middle when it has power, temps are good at upper and lower rad hoses with a IR gun. I don't know if that's a wiring issue between different parts, but I would like to get the correct part in there before metering sensors.

That would be in the transfer case not the cluster .

Your going by the size tires on the door sticker 225P 75R15 ??

That cluster temperature gauge is about useless!

Are the gauges between the at vs Mt trans not set for a different final drive ratio? Are you saying replace the vss before looking at the cluster?

New to the platform and just trying to the this thing right.

Wait, you want to try and replace the cluster because your speedo is off?

What would make you think the cluster has been replaced? Aside from the speedo being off? Is this a salvage vehicle? Or are you thinking the transmission may have been swapped? There is really no reason that guage would have been swapped, unless maybe previous seller was trying to roll back mileage on the odometer by swapping a different cluster in.

We need more info on the vehicle, to help you out here. The gauge cluster is (almost) definately not your problem with the speedo being off.

the sending unit for the speedometer is in the Transfer case or transmission not the cluster

    @Bivouac is right.

The cluster is only a display of the "information" being sent from the transmission (2wd) or the transfer case (4wd).

It doesn't matter if the cluster is from a manual or auto... I actually don't even think THAT in and of it's self changes the part.

Over the course of 1st gen, there were different cluster configurations, but in terms of mph display, it wouldn't be any different.

Looking at replacement clusters on ebay and the gauge colors don't match. There are warning lights(not on) on the dash for a/t pressure and a/t temp in the truck currently.

I don't think mileage was rolled back as odometer is currently at 330k. I don't have much history on the vehicle, but the price was too good to pass on it.

    2000, 3.4, 5mt, sr5, with the rear locker

When I had it on a lift, spinning the tires, counting drive shaft revolutions, it looked to be about 4.10 gearing.

Just trying to sort out someone else's half done project.

    Is it a double cab?

Edit, 2000 didn't come in double cab. But it seems like you may have a manual swapped truck.

@Speedytech7 swapped an auto to manual. Or maybe he didn't do the actual swap. But he definately had a manual truck that started out as an auto. Maybe he can shed some light as to how to get the lights to go off.

The inaccuracy with the speedo would be resolved by changing the speedo gear in the tcase. There are different gears with different amounts of teeth for different configurations.

I'm not 100% positive, but if that truck started out as an auto, it would have a different speedo gear in the Transfer case than what you need now, with a manual. Changing the cluster won't solve the mph issue.
