I'm lifted, run 265/70/17 SL rated tires, removed mine and added the TRD skid plate and noticed no difference in fuel economy. I added a TRD CAI, Pro exhaust switched to Shell fuel, TSB 58 and Sprint Booster and now mileage is better than before.

You will barely see a difference if any. Running the truck hard with a few hard take offs will effect the mileage worse than taking off the air damn. Its not that difficult a decision, take it off, drive it and look at it. Problem solved and put the thing back on if you miss it.

Do I get myself in a position where I look cool or where I can last longer? It’s an important question if you use your stuff frequently.

I like function. I like purpose. I like the air dam. A few miles per gallon more? Ya damn straight! Wish my 2020 TRD OffRoad had one. I could use it at my pleasure, especially highway miles.

Tests done on the Chevrolet Colorado/GMC Canyon showed a difference of 1 MPG. I can't remember which, but one (city/hwy) got 1 MPG better and one got 1 MPG worse.

Didn't see an issue reviving it - thought it beat starting a new one.

I picked up a 2022 Sr5 Double cab Tacoma in magnetic gray last Saturday. I literally just came back inside from taking the airdam off, took all of 10mins and now it looks way better with out it imo. I threw the airdam in my storage closet for now for if and when I ever trade this truck in down the road. I just left all the screws in place so they'll be there if I ever throw it back on. I really don't see what that flimsy piece of plastic was really supposed to do, doubt I'll see any difference other than looks without it on but to each their own.

If you live in a salty or rusty region, it'd be a good idea to coat those retaining clips and screws with a rust inhibiter like crc or cosmoline. I took my air dam off for a little over a month during the winter...found some corrosion starting to form on those parts when i went to install the air dam back on.

Good tip, I'm in South Florida and roughly 10 miles from the beach so for me I'm good with having to deal with rust like that. I'm glad I took it off it bothered me looking at it on and looks so much better now without it. I don't see having any issues without it on but we will see.
