I have to swap out the expansion valve. The drivers side vent is cold and it gradually worsens as you move to the right towards rbe passenger side vent near the window. I want to replace that line that is leaking but I cannot find the part number.

    Thanks

Are you going to DIY that? Folks here say it can come out thorough the front of the firewall instead of removing the dash as per the manual. We (at least I!) would love to see how this is done in pictures.

Yes I’m going to replace it myself and yes you can remove it from the front of the firewall from the engine bay.

    Wait.
Do you mean to tell me, that instead of shoving garbage cans off the shelf from Autozone into an expensive vehicle, as well as of a vague amount (which is what people who know absolutely nothing about cars do)
and paying a hack to do the same,

is not how it's normally done?
Do you mean to tell me, that it's better to do what every car maker, shop, and dealership has been doing for 10+ years, which is to use something like an actual A/C machine such as Robinair, to charge a measured quantity matching the car spec? (600g according to an online manual copy)

Given one of those cans is likely $50, and paying a shop to actually do it properly can run around $100, with the former not going to work, and the latter probably going to work, or at least be a step in the right direction towards diagnosis if there is a problem, it sounds not worth it

Guys my compressor has finally shit - now I can’t turn on the A/C without blowing the 10am iGN1 2 fuse. Truck has 150k on it. Should I (besides swapping the entire hvac A/C system compressor, condenser and drier and txv) also replace the tensioner and belt or should I replace the idler pulleys as well?

    any thoughts

ps I’m ordering everything through rock auto

I got the compressor in and the new line in. I believed my pickup sensor was FUBARd before but if it wasn’t it is now because I shorted it out while trying to test it like a noob dumbass, so I ordered a new one. The new condenser just arrived and I ordered a new “refrigerant filter” which I’ll have soon. A couple of questions I cannot find answers to.

gasket seals and o rings - what goes where? The new hose came with o rings installed but the compressor side I used the gasket seals that came with the new compressor. I took the o ring off the compressor side of the hose.

What seals or orings should I use when connecting hoses to the condenser and hoses to the expansion valve.

Second question: how in Gods name do I remove those plastic fittings around the hoses that connect into the expansion valve where firewall valve sits in the firewall? I know you’re supposed to use a flat head but where do you inset the flat head and once inserted are you supposed to push in or down or up on the handle creating force to open the fittings?

I’d appreciate any guidance - this forum is invaluable.

    thanks

One more thing. Does anyone know where I can find the pickup sensor? I shorted mine out and ordered one from Toyota but they have a national back order and the eta isn’t until mid September. This is really bumming me out. A/C won’t work without it I’m certain

I had the issue with driver side cold then it got warmer moving to passenger side. Eventually lost all air. My issue was the evaporator. Good luck chasing down the issue.

That’s the only piece I haven’t purchased to swap yet. What was wrong with your evaporator? My compressor went first when that started.

Finally the TXV is out and so arent those ridiculously frozen solid t25 torque bolts - had to drill the heads off each to get the valve out and was able to remove the bolt on the right. The left bolt we needed to add heat using a magnetic inductance tool and wow that shit loosened right up.

any step by step on replacing the condenser? Also, should we be going oem with the condenser (I’m seeing the oem model has the mounting hardware already installed
