Rattle Found-May Help Others

So I have been chasing a rattle in my 2021 Tacoma. Very faint, sounds like a faint tapping from a bongo drum when going over bumps.
I checked everything. Unloaded every item from truck.
Climbed under and shook exhaust, skids etc.
I was walking around the truck and smacked my knee into the trail hitch. Made a loud clanging noise outside but my wife, who had just climbed in, said "You found it!"
Moral of story .. noise is different depending on where you hear it.

How's your knee?




I hear a constant rattle when my rear slider is open. Always assumed it was the contents of my bed cubbies. Today I learned.

 

It's fine. I have five knees... My left knee, my right knee,my two kindees and my wineee.

 

That rattle was replaced by a howl loud enough to scare a Coyote. The only thing more painful is finding the trailer hitch with your shin.

 

About 3 years ago l was unloading my truck and my neighbor pulled in beside my truck, hit my shin so hard on his freakin hitch it still hurts today.

 

I take my hitch off after each use.

 

All this talk of trailer hitches...

 

Was just thinking about this after looking at my 5" drop receiver hitch tonight. I'd feel bad if someone got hurt on it but i'd feel even worse repairing the damage to the truck from them keying it afterwards. Note to self... remove it between fishing trips...lol. As far as the rattle goes run a couple pieces duct tape around the shaft.

I have the second one. It works, but I only use it for longer trips, because it's kind
of a pain in the butt to install and remove (tools required), and I'm a lazy-ass sometimes.
