So the time has come. My drivers CV has kicked the bucket… since I don’t plan on buying aftermarket and I don’t really want to pay for OEM if they’re gonna go again. What have you all done rebuild wise?
I’ve heard some people do tundra shafts with the normal joints.

Ps:lifted on 35’s so warranty is NOT an option.

What caused it to fail? Just a boot failure or catastrophic failure? How many miles on them?

OEM are typically the way to go and won't fail prematurely as long as you don't wheel like a goon and have decent throttle control. You could look into RCVs too but you can buy multiple OE for the price of one RCV. 35s won't help the situation.

its started clicking on left turns. No broken boot or anything, CV angle is good but I think I should look into limiting straps

Best thing you can do if you're going to keep wheelin is get the rcvs which are more durable than OEM and also way more expensive. Aftermarkets are never a good idea because 95% of the time they're Chinese and will break in 6 months. I'm not sure on any retro fit with tundras but those are kind of the best options for longevity...

How many miles on your truck?
I just noticed clicking at ~72k, about 64k after lift.

I’ve heard of Tundra axles being used on 1st gens but not 2nd/3rd. Would be interesting to hear otherwise

I've been running an $80 Napa CV for several thousand miles offroad...

Just buy a cheapo and go, buy two if you are worried, pretty easy trail fix.
