First two things that come to mind are a bad cv axle or wheel bearing

All the usual suspects, aside from the aforementioned CV and wheel bearing, could be anything holding the parts in place as well (upper and lower control arm bushings, upper and lower ball joints, etc).

I will say though, that in my experience with a faint grinding sound while making freeway speed turns, it was the wheel bearings.

    Check the brake dust shield
They drag on turns when rusted to crap.

Im about to remove the passenger side because of this, adjusting helps for awhile but time to get it off- if the 4 bolts are not seized

FWIW, You won't able to remove the dust shield (intact) without pressing the hub out:

    See @Timmah!'s video here:
https://youtu.be/Dj-2IzO9RFk?t=1094 (I think I got the start at point correct).

That's not to say you can't just remove the bolts, and then cut the shield off.

thanks for that info—I did not know this, until a few months back. Got new backing plates in the garage-Apparently no one likes doing this wheel bearing job either,

Thats The plan, then if the bolts did come out,
(had one break on a other truck) cut the new back plates in two, and rebolt them. Probably wishful thinking

On an '03... If I had original front wheel bearings at this point, I'd just change them out rather than do all that cutting.
