Just curious... have you always had a positive outcome like this at quick lube places over the years?

I personally will not use quick lube shops. Nope....not for me. However, I understand that some people have little choice but to use them. Perhaps they don't know how to do it (and that's ok), maybe they have some sort of physical restriction that prevents them from doing it (age, injury, etc.), maybe they have little time to do it and maybe they're just not interested in crawling under their vehicle. It's not for everyone.

Quick lube places service millions of vehicles a year without issue. Still....I don't trust them. Aside from their oil....many of their other fluids are the most basic, generic, "universal" fluids that may or may not be appropriate for your particular vehicle application. Plus there is the whole issue of whether the service was performed correctly.....or at all.

The average person wouldn't have a clue what was done.....unless there was an obvious and nearly immediate failure.

I would say they managed to get most oil changes right. But I'm not confident about the other services.

Whenever I do a brake job for a friend, neighbor or friend of my wife's....I can always tell the ones that use quick lube places. Almost without fail I have to draw brake fluid from the reservoir before working on it. The system is closed. There is no need to add fluid unless there is a leak. It's normal for the fluid level to drop as the pads/shoes wear. New pads will bring the level back up. Yet quick lube places will still "top them off".

As long as you send your canola oil to Blackstone periodically, you’re ok. Your filter will pull the fried bits.

One time, 20+ years ago, I went to pick my truck with an oil puddle underneath. They fixed it and no issue.
I always check under and engine.

I meant that one specific post that I quoted lol

I’m one of those people who always winds up reading all the oil threads for some reason. I guess because I haven’t decided which camp I’m in yet. It’s a big time waster haha

I just had my 10K service done today at a local dealership. In-and-out in ~40 minutes + additional 10 minutes cleaning up the oily mess they left all over the skid plate after getting home... :bananadance:

... and I'd be more than happy to take the old oil filters if the previous poster doesn't want them. ;)

Lug nuts basically permanently welded to the wheels/studs because they were installed with a gov't surplus USAF B-52 spec torque wrench set to: "full-boat infinity".

Never buy a used abused truck from a someone who does the least because they can.
75,000 or 150,000 miles which every comes first,... sound like dad or mommy bought this and the next one.
They sell or trade as it will never see 200,000 guaranteed.

Tustin Toyota did an oil change for me. Took about 4 hours. I had already removed the HD custom skid plate for them since I assumed that would cause them trouble. Picked it up and drove the truck back to work and promptly popped the hood to see if they had filled it correctly. The level was good but the fill cap was missing. Looked in the engine bay and no luck. Called them and the nice service lady said she could help me with that. Offered to schedule me for an appointment in two days to have the oil cap "adjusted". Lots of run around but finally got the actual service manager to drive to my work with a cap. It was a new/different cap and I said so. He said they had found mine but it had been run over by my truck when they pulled it out. I asked him if anyone happened to notice the crunching sound and bump as it was pulled out? Or if anyone happened to notice a oil fill cap laying in the middle of a service bay? He offered to detail my perfectly clean and polished truck to make up for it. I will no longer be getting any of the "free" oil changes. This was the 10K one and I hade already changed it twice by now myself. Thought the Toyota dealer would have been better than this. This is why I NEVER let anyone do ANYTHING to my autos if there is any possible way around it. Had to learn how to do my own alignments because of poor service as well. Very sad.
